Here at Peter Rowland we are rather obsessed with food and highly partial to travel. Where better to start our honeymoon destination spotlights than the charming Cinque Terre in Italy.
Cinque Terre is made up of five vibrant seaside villages stacked up into the cliffs in the World Heritage listed Cinque Terre National Park, each with a distinctly different personality but each as stunning as the next. Each of the five towns are linked by a hiking track, called the Sentiero Azzurro or the “Azzure Trail”, that showcases unparalleled views of the upper west coast of Italy. If hiking is not how you had intended to spend your relaxing honeymoon however, there is a train that links the towns and will get you anywhere you need to be without raising your heart rate.
What to do
Why not pack a picnic of the region’s most delicious specialities such as foccacia, pesto and anchovies along with gorgeous fresh cheeses and cured meets from the family run deli in Riomaggiore before wandering to Manarola along a relaxing path called Via dell’Amore, or the “Love Walk”, for a leisurely bite to eat and a dip in the Liguarian Sea.
After a relaxing morning of delicious antipasto and sunbathing with your new spouse, catch the train to Corniglia and enjoy a sumptuous seafood lunch and some local wine overlooking the crystal clear blue waters before hiking down the cliffs to Vernazza for more sunbathing and frolicking in the sea.
When you feel you have had as much vitamin D as your body can take, train along to Monterosso for a romantic dinner at one of the gorgeous trattorias this town has to offer. Lastly, finish of with a gelato as you wander along the beach on a warm summer evening.
Where to stay
Although there is accommodation in each of the towns along the Cinque Terre, there are many more options available if you look to the surrounding areas. La Spezia is a popular choice however, as it is the closest to the Cinque Terre, it can be a little “touristy”. For somewhere a little more romantic try Sestri Levante. It is still very close but much less populated and you can access Monterosso by either train or boat.
What to pack
Keep it simple and light. There are plenty of opportunities to use your bathers and towel and a light summer dress or three for the girls, and a pair of shorts for the boys can never go astray however, other than a great book and your favourite sunnies, there is not much else you will require. If you are athletically inclined and want to take on the Sentiero Azzurro, then don’t forget your runners and a water bottle and of course the most important thing for any holiday, a camera.
Dressing women is easy. With so many different styles, colours and fabrics to choose from, it is not all that difficult to find something that will not only flatter your bridesmaids but also make them stand out from your guests. It can however be a little more challenging to do the same for the men in your bridal party. So, taking inspiration from our very own Steve here at Peter Rowland head office, here are out tips for the coming season.
Whether you are looking at keeping it pretty classic or contemplating injecting a burst of colour into your bridal party, adding lots of textures and patterns is a sure fire way to ensure your groomsmen stand out just as much as your bridesmaids. Consider using a mixture of knits and fabrics as well as contrasting patterns.
It’s hard enough to wrangle some men into a suit at the best of times and this is where a contingency plan is a must. The boys will want to take their jackets off at some point throughout your wedding day. Whether it’s because they are standing in the sun waiting for the bride to make her appearance or they are ready for a boogie, why not ensure they still look every bit as dapper when they do.
If you are having a more relaxed affair like a garden wedding or you have a groom that finds wearing a tie torturous then why not opt for an open collar? You can still mix colours and textures to create a unique and striking look which will stand out in your photos whilst still being comfortable for the boys to wear all day and night.
Nothing says classical elegance quite like keeping it monochrome. Perfect for the non-adventurous boys, not only will your groom &and groomsmen look effortlessly cool on your big day but they can wear the simple black and white look time and time again.
Pop of Colour
We love a pop of colour any time, anywhere and a wedding is no exception. The trick with this style is to keep the suit and shirt relatively simple and let the accessories do the talking. This is the perfect style to make bold statements, especially with a key colour scheme throughout your day and can be a lot of fun to play with.

Your wedding invitations are the first insight your guests will receive about your big day. Keeping this in mind, it is so important to ensure you select the right stationary to tie everything together, from your Save The Dates to your thank you cards.
We recently chatted with Tania Savage from Little Bird Design Studio to ask her what she thinks is most important when choosing a stationer. Tania, who is highly creative and a self confessed font geek, had been looking for the right stationary for her own wedding 15 years ago, however after not being able to find what she was looking for, Tania designed and printed her own. Within 5 years she had a fully fledged stationary company to add to her design portfolio.
When asked what led her to wedding stationary, Tania says “I’ve been designing in many capacities throughout my career and like to do things a little differently. Sign writing, web site design, print design, but it’s wedding stationary that is my true love. Weddings are so inspirational and there are so many elements of design to use in wedding stationary. Colour, fashion, illustration, fonts, art, photography. There’s always an idea for something fresh and new.” Tania also suggests you insist on receiving printed samples to ensure it is of the highest standard.
Your invitation will most likely be stuck to someone’s fridge for quite some time, make it sensational.
Aleisha & Darren met, like so many of our couples do, through mutual friends and it was immediately apparent that they were onto something special.
When planning their big day Aleisha knew exactly how she wanted it to look. The design brief was rustic elegance with bold pops of vibrant blues and yellows. In the hunt for wedding catering Aleisha discovered Mt Duneed Estate and knew immediately that it was the perfect mix of rustic and traditional she had been searching for.
The couple shared an intimate wedding ceremony nestled amongst a clearing in the olive groves on the estate, which was framed by white balloons, a perfect contrast to the bold colours in the bouquets. Whilst the bridal party wandered around the grounds taking photographs among the vines, the guests made their way to the front of the property to enjoy some delicious canapés and fantastic company.
After the guests had been seated the bridal party and the happy couple were introduced to all of their guests, who were ecstatic to be a part of such a special occasion. The night was awash with dancing, fine food, many a drink and plenty of laughter and ended with Aleisha and Darren being surrounded by all of their loved ones and their best wishes as they left.
We are so glad to be a part of this couple’s wedding and would like to wish them all the best in their many years to come.
