Honeymoon Destination of the Month – East Africa

If you’re the sort couple who love a little “R&R” but know you’ll be scratching at the walls only a few days into your honeymoon, it’s time to think outside the square. Consider a romantic, relaxing honeymoon with a difference, where no two days are the same and an experience that’s bound to leave you wishing you’d stayed longer.

East Africa; an addiction one can only truly understand once it’s experienced first hand. Imagine an elephant herd stopping to drink by a waterhole as the herd’s cubs clumsily attempt to spray each other with water, or a pair of playful lion cubs practising their not-so-threatening roars on a nearby flock of birds just a stone’s throw from your safari vehicle; like an episode of National Geographic, only you’re not on your couch in front of the television, you’re in the heart of Kenya experiencing what many only dream of.

Camping in Africa gives a whole new meaning to the word “Glamping”, offering standards far beyond anything you’ve ever experienced. Imagine being welcomed by a beautiful plush four poster bed as you pull back the canvas entrance of your private permanent tent, complete with polished floors and an ensuite bathroom, boasting finely appointed amenities and a his and hers vanity. Now that’s what we call camping!

If spending the day driving through the savannah, stopping to enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch prepared on-route by a personal chef is all too much, you can always head back to camp and catch a few rays by the pool before the day’s out while the camp’s butler forces your hand with a refreshing gin and tonic and you contemplate your next move. Your next move of course will be obligatory “sundowner” drinks, the perfect ending to a day’s safari, exchanging stories with your fellow “campers” about sightings of the Big Five, all the while, watching a brilliant burnt orange sunset cast elongated shadows of the sparse acacia trees on the ground around you.

And if a beach stay is a must on your honeymoon check list, end your East African safari with a few days on the stunning coast of the Indian Ocean where turquoise waters lap against the shores of Mombassa’s Diani Beach. Spoilt for choice, accommodation here will not disappoint including the luxurious Almanara Resort where staff will cater to your every whim. Hmm, a champagne breakfast served on the private balcony of your beautifully appointed suite overlooking the azure waters below sounds just awful, doesn’t it?

Melbourne Museum – Rachel & Rick

Rachel and Rick met, as if by fate, in the “happiest place on earth” at Disneyland. The couple were both working in Florida at the Disneyland Resort and from the very beginning, there was no doubt he was her prince charming.

When Rachel began planning her big day one of the most important aspects to her was the wedding catering and this ultimately lead her to Peter Rowland. Rachel and Rick also wanted to ensure that the day was filled with all the magic from their days at Disneyland.

In front of the stunning Forest Gallery at Melbourne Museum, Rick stood patiently awaiting his princess and as she walked towards him and his smile grew larger it was clear this was a match made in heaven. After the wedding vows had been exchanged, each and every guest opened a tiny box and a kaleidoscope of butterflies filled the air above the happy couple.

As the evening continued, Rachel and Rick wanted to ensure their guests had the best time possible and left thoughtful touches everywhere they looked, our favourite being the thongs for tired dancing feet. Celebrating late into the night, there was no doubt in anyone’s minds that this couple would live happily ever after.

PRC Style – Raise a glass

There are so many beautiful wedding trends around at the moment, and whilst we may be somewhat biased here at PRC, we still think the trends that leave the most lasting impressions are the ones that fill your tummy. After all, everyone knows that the fastest way into someone’s heart is through their stomach. So, here are our favourites for all things boozy and bubbly.

Fun and Fruity

We would like to start by clarifying that whilst the old saying “you eat with your eyes” may be true the same applies for drinking. Summer is all about fresh flavours and vibrant colours, and of course citrus in anything will make for a refreshing drink to enjoy this summer.

There’s not much worse than being out for a lovely night when, for what ever reason you’ve chosen not to drink and you’re instead left sipping on lemonade, feeling rather left out. Make sure your loved ones who have opted not to drink have a quenching choice with a little more flair

Whisky Bars

There is something just so cool and kitschy about a whiskey bar, and if you’ve been sipping on fantastically fruity cocktails all evening we’re sure the boys, and the girls for that matter, will love a whisky bar as a popular feature towards the end of the evening.

Ice, ice, baby

We may have noted our love for anything ice-cream related on the blog before, and nothing has changed. Could there be any more of a fabulous twist to a cocktail than discovering it contains ice-cream? This grown up twist of a childhood favourite, the spider, is sure to have your guests grinning with glee.

If none of the above are exactly what you are looking for why not try a new take on an old favourite? Who doesn’t love a blueberry mojito? Or better still, start from scratch and create a flavour that is completely unique to your wedding. Adding unique touches such as a black salt rim to your glass or a cute straw or stirrer will really help your designer drink make an impact.

Wedding of the Month – Gardens House – Amy & Dean

Despite all the planning that goes into the perfect wedding, there are some things that cannot be controlled, like the weather. So, when Dean woke up on the morning of his big day to look out the window and see grey skies, his heart sank. He was determined however to ensure the day would be just as Amy had planned and worked so hard for.

Dean put on his suit and headed down to the cutest of all Melbourne wedding venues, Gardens House, where he rolled his sleeves up and got right to work, ensuring everything would be as perfect as his soon-to-be wife had envisioned. Through sheer will power or simply the fact this is Melbourne, the heavy skies subsided eventually allowing the sun to shine, giving Dean and the team at Gardens House just long enough to get everything into position in time for Amy’s arrival, leaving her none the wiser of the events earlier that day.

A relieved groom got himself into position, and with eyes brimming with happiness, waited for his stunning bride to appear. As Amy made her way towards the man of her dreams their love spread throughout their guests and in every direction there were wide grins and tears of happiness. The gorgeous couple, unable to take their eyes off each other, finished their vows in front of a stunning teepee, created by Events by Kate, and shared their first kiss as man and wife.

As the couple wandered through the gardens with their bridal party and talented photographer, Pierre Curry, their guests mingled with bubbles in hand and exchanged stories of the couple and their immeasurable love. As the sun began to set, the festoon lighting shone brightly above the guests heads as they danced under the stars.

Just as the evening looked like it couldn’t get any better, Amy and Dean began their first dance, holding each other tightly and swaying slowly under the clear night sky. Then, without a word of warning, but with all the grace of Patrick Swayze, Dean lifted his bride above him as they smiled at each other. It was clear to everyone this was a fairytale kind of romance.

Melbourne Museum – Linda & Ryan

On a party bus tour and roaming the streets of Melbourne, two very unsuspecting, and potentially tipsy, people met. They had no idea at the time that their rowdy night out was going to lead to true love. Linda and Ryan wanted something a little bit left of centre for their big day, and when hunting for a Melbourne wedding venue, they couldn’t go past the quirky charm of the Melbourne Museum.

The couple opted to have their ceremony in one of the most unique spaces in the museum, Kalaya. Hidden from sight at the top of the stunning timber spiral walkway, Linda and her father waited nervously for the exact moment she could make her way down to her excited groom. The beautiful bride was personally met with smiles, tears of happiness & laughter by each and every one of their guests as she made her way down the winding aisle and towards the man of her dreams.

The couple, beaming from ear to ear and with their loved ones watching from above, shared their touching vows before exchanging their first kiss as husband and wife. With congratulations all around the couple headed off to have photos throughout the museum whilst their guests headed up to Treetops for the reception. The entire evening was just as relaxed as this gorgeous couple, with bubbles and canapés circling late into the night and all topped off by a rustically styled dessert station.

Thank you from the team at Peter Rowland for choosing to share your big day with us.

Supplier Spotlight – Warren Photography

There are certain things in life you should never skimp on; a surgeon, a tattoo artist and of course, a wedding photographer. After all, the images of your big day are going to be hung on your walls for the next 50 years for your children to tease you about and your grandchildren to admire.

After over 700 weddings, John Warren, the creative genius behind Warren Photography, has perfected the art of capturing the emotion along with the image. “Emotion and fun is always more powerful than shots in front of red doors” and his passion for catching the right look and the right smile at the right time is apparent when viewing some of his work.

“The most important thing is to have fun on your wedding day! Photos of you laughing and enjoying yourself are photos you’ll love to look at, and they’ll remind you of how awesome your day was. It’s important that your wedding photographer injects the fun and keeps everyone buzzed and pumped.”

Working with John is always effortless. He has a way of putting everyone around him entirely at ease whilst making them giggle their heads off, and never misses the shot. What more could you want in a wedding photographer?

Gardens House – Kaylyn & Robert

When searching for a charming Melbourne wedding venue to hold her ceremony, Kaylyn stumbled upon Gardens House and knew straight away it was everything she they had been looking for.

So, on one superb day in early Autumn, Kaylyn and her best friend tucked themselves away to prepare themselves for the biggest day of Kaylyn’s life, just as Robert and his best friend did the same for Rob. Family and friends gathered from near and far on the back lawn of the property and after greeting Robert, together they nervously awaited for his flawless bride to arrive.

Tucked away in the centre of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kaylyn emerged from the adorable Georgian style house on her father’s arm, as he walked towards her university sweetheart and the first day of the rest of their lives together. Framed by exquisite pops of colour from the backdrop of vibrant flowers, the couple stood hand in hand and exchanged sweet smiles, loving looks and touching vows which they then sealed with a kiss.

As loved ones cheered the beaming newly-weds, they made their way down the aisle to take photo’s within the lush gardens. “Everything was perfect, exactly as we imagined it would be!” exclaimed Kaylyn when asked of her ceremony.

On what was the perfect autumn day in the most gorgeous of settings, we thank the couple for choosing Gardens House and wish them all the very best on their next big adventure.

PRC Style – Sweet Treats

We’re sure it’s no surprise that here at PRC headquarters we have somewhat of a sweet-tooth. Our dedicated foodies can often be heard discussing their favourite desserts or seen enjoying a delectable morsel at their desks. And we know we’re not alone in the world of all things sweet and delicious! So, we’ve come together with our collective knowledge on everything sugar, spice and all things nice to ensure your wedding has the sweetest and most scrumptious treats to please your guests, leaving them grinning from ear to ear.

Gelato Carts

Do you remember as a child, the excitement of seeing a Mr Whippy van after a long swim at the beach or hearing the chiming of bells coming down the street? What could be more fun than a gelato cart than the added joy of being able to enjoy it with a crisp cold glass of champagne? Short Batch Ice Cream Co are a favourite of ours, their ice cream is incredible and their carts are perfectly suited for all styles of weddings.

Artisan Icy-poles

Another nod to hot summer days as a child. We love the idea of a grown up, elegant icy-pole as the finishing touch to a summers cocktail party. Go for either the pre-made kind, like the mouth watering selection at Pop Culture, or get creative and make your own with endless flavour combinations.

Hot jam or cinnamon? Not anymore! Donuts are one of the many humble treats that have been given a makeover in recent times. With so many flavours, colours and fillings to choose from, what’s not to love? Consider having mountains of multicoloured or gold-leaf doughnuts as part of your dessert station

Fairy Floss

Our love of all things filled with childhood whimsy but with an adult upgrade is probably starting to become apparent with this inclusion. Fairy floss is sweet and sticky and there is something almost magical about watching it appear almost out of nowhere, In the wise words of Fluffe “Pink is not a flavour” so why not indulge in some of their gorgeous rosewater or mojito fairy floss? Or, use it to add a little “lovely” to your cupcakes or champagne.

Gardens House – Rooney & Tim

Rooney and Tim had a very clear vision of how they wanted their big day to flow; a fun relaxed party with plenty of bubbles and a few cheeky rounds of quoits. They didn’t intendon missing a second of it so, instead of disappearing after their ceremony for photos, they decided to take photos before the ceremony so they only had to sneak off for a few later in the evening. When researching Melbourne venues for her wedding, Rooney wanted to something relaxed and intimate for her guests and somewhere they could hold a romantic garden ceremony followed by a light-hearted and relaxed cocktail party. Gardens House was the obvious choice.

A string quartet played in the background as guests mingled on the lawns, took some candid polaroid snaps and played a round of quiots or two whilst enjoying the stunning surroundings of the Royal Botanic Gardens.

It was a stunning night for such a stunning couple, thank you for letting us play a part in your big day.
